Chinatown fest celebrates a tiger of a year
Crowds of residents and tourists gathered in Chinatown yesterday to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the Lion Dance Festival. The event kicked off at the main stage in Phillips Square at Harrison Avenue and Essex Street, and continued around the neighborhood with different clubs leading the parade. The Lunar New Year, which officially began on Feb. 14, is the most important holiday in Chinese culture. This year is the year of the tiger.
